  • What is Balintawak?
    Balintawak Eskrima or Balintawak Arnis is a Filipino martial art created by Great Grandmaster Venancio "Anciong" Bacon in the 1950s to enhance and preserve the combative nature of eskrima which he felt was being watered down by other styles of Filipino martial arts. It is named after a small street in Cebu where it was founded. Balintawak is commonly identified by it’s use of the single stick and close quarter range of play, it is designed to develop combat attributes: speed, timing, reflexes and proper distance control. Additionally, emphasis is placed on economy of motion, use of the left hand, traps, ruses, and tactics of delivery to produce well-timed and accurate attacks and counter attacks.
  • What is the Eagle's Nest?
    The name Eagles Nest represents the national bird of the Philippines which is one of the largest species of eagles in the world. Also, it represents the the original home and founding location of Balintawak Eskrima founded by Great Grandmaster Anciong Bacon in 1952. The Eagle's Nest Balintawak was founded by Guro George Bell a lifelong martial artist and a 8th degree black belt in Taekwondo. Guro George saw a need to offer a quality supplemental program to martial art gyms that was practical, fun, provides a great workout, and can compliment your existing martial art program.
  • How can this help or benifit me?
    The Eagle's Nest Balintawak program can benifit you by learning a system of self-defense that is weapon based, systemized, practical and has flexibility to be practiced in multiple formats of your choice. The close range techniques and system of Balintawak Eskrima is a great stand alone or supplemental program for any martial artist or gym. Hand-eye coordination, body reflexes, and learning practical weapons are a few of the skills you will acquire and benifit from training Balintawak Eskrima.
  • How can this program assist my martisl arts gym?
    The Eagle's Nest Balintawak program is catered to educate martial art programs and individuals that are looking to become more educated and certified in the Filipino Martial Art of Balintawak Eskrima. This will assist your students, and offer an additional program(s) at your facility the best way you see fit regardless if you offer it to you black belt club, general student population, leadership team, or exclusively your instructors you decide. ​ We assist you through pre-prepard video instruction, live Zoom instruction, in person seminars, live certification, and open communication so you can monitize this program program at your facility within 3 months of starting.
