Sifu / Guro David Hatch
After Dave’s 9 years of training with his first FMA instructor, Guro Dan Inosanto, Guro asked Dave to look up and train under Manong Ted Buot in Balintawak Eskrima. Upon finding Manong Ted Buot, and having a traditional one-on-one interview, Dave started training Balintawak in December of 1994.
Training continued on a weekly basis until Dave received a phone call on Monong Ted’s untimely stroke in December of 2005. Even after the stroke, Dave continued to visit Monang Ted to talk about Balintawak history, and review Dave’s instructional DVDs on Balntawak Eskrima. With Manong Ted Buot’s blessing, Dave released 12 DVD volumes as an encyclopedia of what he was taught by Manong Ted (which reflected what Manong Ted was taught by the founder of Balintawak, Grand Master Venancio ‘Anciong’ Bacon.) Manong Ted Buot died July 4, 2013. His principles of Balintawak are still practiced and taught to the public.
